om Antonissen assumed his present role in November 2014, although he has close to a decade experience with the IRF and road transport policy, with a particular focus on road safety, road user charging (RUC) and enforcement. He served for several years as a Road Safety Expert for the European Commission, under its Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX) facility.
Mr. Antonissen’s current responsibilities include supporting IRF’s program of regional congresses and training workshops in Europe & Central Asia as well as facilitating the activities of the IRF ITS Committee and its Subcommittees. Congruent to his work with IRF, he has been representing several multimodal transport and logistics associations towards the EU institutions, media and stakeholders.
A Belgian national, born and raised in Brussels, following his university degree in EU and international law, he also acted for several years as Secretary General of three Belgian and two European trade federations in the construction and civil engineering machinery sector.
